All student pick up for all three grades is done on the pickup road, which is located behind the cafeterias. To access this location parents need to enter campus from the A/ D School entrance.

We ask all parents to use both lanes of the pickup road and move their car up as far as possible. If the car ahead of you moves, you are expected to move up as far as you can. We ask that parents do not pick up their child until they have pulled forward as much as possible to avoid delays for other parents. Doing this moves traffic along and ensures all parents can pick up their child as quickly as possible. Once you have picked up your child you can move into the middle lane and proceed to the exit.

Yes- we have late buses that depart FFMS at 4:15 pm every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (there is no late bus on Friday) to provide transportation home to students that stay for after school activities.

Yes- but we encourage this to be for childcare purposes.

You will need to write a note and send it with your child the morning they will be taking a different bus home. Your note should include your name, your child’s name, your phone number and the name of the student your child will be riding the bus home with. Your child will need to bring this note to their wing attendance secretary upon arrival. The wing secretary will call you to confirm this and then approve this note. Your child will pick this approved note up at dismissal and show it to the bus driver to be allowed on the bus.

To ensure the safety of our students, students that do not have a signed note at dismissal will not be allowed to board a bus home that is not their assigned bus. Additionally, to avoid a delay in dismissing buses, we also do not allow students to call home and get approval over the phone.

We would have your child call you to see if you can pick them up. If you are unable to, they would wait for a late bus to take them home at 4:15 pm.

The most common reason students miss their bus is that they are socializing with friends and are not paying attention to the buses as they arrive on campus. You can help your child by reminding them that their bus may arrive in a different order, have a different driver or even a different bus number each day and that they should pay close attention during dismissal to find their bus before it departs. One tip is to have them keep an eye on the other students that ride their bus home so they can board their bus when those students do, too.

• If you know in advance that you will be picking your child up from school, email your Attendance Secretary or send your child to school with a written note that includes the following information: 

  • Your child’s first and last name

  • The time they will be picked up

  • The reason for their early dismissal 

  • The person that will be picking up your child

• If sending a note, your child must bring this to the attendance office upon arrival.

• If something unexpected comes up during the day, please call or email ahead to your wing attendance office to let them know the time, reason for early dismissal and person picking up your child

Once contacted, the Attendance Secretary will write a pass for your child that tells them to leave class early five minutes prior to their scheduled dismissal time- this helps ensure your child is at the B Wing entrance at the time you need to pick them up and limits the amount of interruptions that are placed on classroom learning.

• In most cases, this will create a lengthy delay for you in picking up your child , as we need to locate your child, contact their classroom, and then they will need to go to their locker and get all of their belongings before they walk to B Wing  

• If you come to school without advance notice to pick up your child during their lunch period you may need to wait until the following period to pick them up- during lunch there are numerous locations your child can be, and we cannot divert staff assigned to supervise students to locate them

• All early dismissals are considered to be an unexcused absence unless an approved reason is provided in writing to the Attendance Secretary 

You need a government issued ID to pick up your child- for most people this will be your Driver’s License.

Pickup for all students — grades 6-8 — takes place at the B Wing entrance.

You have the option to either park along the curb outside of B Wing or you can park in a diagonal parking space outside of either A or D School and walk to the B Wing entrance

• You will go to the door and talk to Security- they will have you sign your child out and take your ID to check to confirm you are authorized to pick up your child

• Once confirmed, your child will be released to you

Early dismissals stop for the day at 3:15 pm, as school busses begin to arrive to campus and Security staff transition to their exterior dismissal posts- the B Wing entrance closes at 3:15 pm daily.

If you arrive at 3:15 pm or later, please go to the pickup road and wait for your child to be dismissed.

Attendance is taken for all students, in all grades, in all class periods except for lunch (seven classes per day)

Parents must log into their Parent Portal account to view their child’s attendance- click HERE for the Parent Portal.

Students that are absent from school are automatically marked as an “unexcused” absence- for an absence to be considered “excused” our Attendance Secretaries must receive notice from a parent in writing either by email or note.

To be excused, an absence must be identified as one of the following reasons (from Board Policy 5100): 

• Personal illness, illness or death in the family, impassable roads (as designated by local officials) or weather, religious observance, quarantine, required court appearances, attendance at health clinics, approved college visits, approved cooperative work programs, approved school-related activities including academic or athletic competitions, and military obligations. All other ATEDs are considered unexcused absences.

To communicate your child’s absence to the school, email your grade level Attendance Secretary the day of child’s absence. In your email be sure to include the following information: 

• Your child’s first and last name

• The date(s) of their absence

• The reason for the absence (must be on approved list to be excused)

Parents will visit the B Wing entrance to drop off any items to their child during the school day.

Once at B Wing, you will meet Security with your child’s item. You will write your child’s name and grade on a post-it and leave that with Security. Unless it is an item your child needs immediately (their Chromebook) your child will pick up their item during their lunch period, so they are not missing class time.

Students are not permitted to take medicine at school unless under the supervision of a school nurse. To get medication to a school nurse, please contact the nurse for your child’s grade level.

We love highlighting the great work happening at FFMS in a variety of ways- in the FFMS yearbook, on our website or on our Instagram accounts- to do this, we will take photos throughout the year of students and post them in those forums.

Nothing- all students are automatically opted into this unless otherwise communicated by a parent or guardian in writing 

To remove your child from being photographed and recognized in our FFMS forums, you must complete an opt out form as part of the summer mailing- please email Dr. O’Casey at mocasey@ccsd.edu to request an additional form.

You must communicate your decision to your child to inform them that they cannot pose for any photographs on campus and to inform them that they will be excluded from the following FFMS events: 

• Inclusion in the FFMS yearbook

• Any photographs taken during our spirit weeks or other themed dress up days (Pink Day, etc.)  

• Photos displayed on bulletin boards and around campus 

• Photos taken as part of your child’s team or club (cannot be in an athletic team photo, etc.)
